North Fingal Rural Transport Doorogue Ballyboughal

As part of the Rural Transport Programme Nifti was established in December 2002 with the aim of addressing the issues of rural isolation through the provision of transport for rural residents. Social inclusion is a core ethos of Nifti. The programme focuses on supporting communities in Ballyboughal, Oldtown, Garristown, Naul and Rolestown to access public services, employment, training, health, social facilities and other services available to all the community members.

They are currently funded by the Dept of Transport through the Rural Transport Programme, and the Dept of Community, Rural & Gaeltacht through the Community Services Programme. Both funding streams are administered by POBAL.

Nifti provide services in North West Fingal for people who live off the main transport routes and who have no access to public transport where they provide a very necessary friendly first class accessible service. The local community is at the core of the planning and promotion of the rural transport service in the area and take responsibility to ensure the best possible use of the resource for their area.

This service provides both social awareness and value for money providing accessibility to those who might otherwise be marginalised. It is a flexible service which has designated timetables which facilitate the vast majority of people needs, but can provide accessible flexible transport to encompass as many of the target groups as possible .
